Albuquerque, NM (July 17, 2022) – A helicopter was returning from Las Vegas, New Mexico on Saturday evening when it became involved in a collision. Reports from the New Mexico State police show that on Saturday, July 16, a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office’s “Metro 2” helicopter was involved in an accident while heading back to the Albuquerque area after providing assistance at the scene of a fire in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
May helicopter was carrying four people at the time of the accident. All four victims suffered fatal injuries.
The Four victims on the helicopter were identified as Deputy Michael Levison, Lieutenant Fred Beers, Undersheriff Larry Koren, and Rescue Specialist Matthew King with the Bernalillo County Fire Rescue.
Investigators in the state of New Mexico are currently working alongside federal investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to determine the cause of the crash.
