Car Accidents in New Mexico

Albuquerque, NM - Injuries Result from Collision at Edith & Gibson BlvdIn New Mexico, a car accident happens once every 12 minutes on average. A more alarming number is that one person suffers an injury in an accident every 26 minutes, considering that a collision might include anything from a minor mishap to a serious rollover on the highway. On any given day, the bulk of accidents take place between the hours of 12 and 6 pm when there are more cars on the roadways.

If you were hurt as a result of the extreme carelessness of another person, the legal system may be able to award you monetary compensation to cover your past and future medical expenses, lost wages, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, and physical suffering. This may be possible if you can prove that the other person was grossly negligent. In the event that this is the circumstance, you need to move quickly to submit a claim for personal injury. In addition, it is possible that we may be able to submit a claim for punitive damages against the defendant, but this would depend on the particulars of the case.

Punitive damages have two purposes: the first is to punish the person who committed the crime for their reckless, wanton, or premeditated action, and the second is to deter others from engaging in the same behavior by serving as an example of what could happen to them if they did so. Both of these goals are accomplished by serving as an example of what might occur if the defendant committed the crime again.
