Tucumcari, NM (September 9, 2021) - A Phoenix woman was killed following a rollover crash in Tucumcari on Sunday, September 5.
The fatal accident took place on Interstate 40 near mile marker 311. According to the New Mexico State Police, a 26-year-old man was headed east on the highway in a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. The vehicle reportedly left the roadway where it hit a guardrail.
This caused the SUV to overturn. Local sources indicated that 59-year-old Catalina Blanco Hernandez of Phoenix was ejected from the vehicle. The driver and a 19-year-old male passenger were also injured in the crash. Hernandez was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The identities of the other involved parties have not been disclosed.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
