Santa Fe, NM (September 10, 2021) - Local authorities have released the identities of the two people killed in a car crash in Santa Fe on Sunday, September 5.
The collision occurred near the intersection of Interstate 25 and NM-599 at around 5 p.m. According to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old John Griego and 28-year-old Bryana Trejo were traveling in a Hyundai at the time of the crash. The pair were reportedly hit by a Chevrolet pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup, 52-year-old Andres Lira-Hernandez, reportedly failed to stop at the roadway crossing. Both Griego and Trejo sustained fatal injuries in the accident. Lira-Hernandez reportedly had a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody by local authorities.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by the SFCFO.
