Santa Rosa, NM (June 24, 2021) - A Texas woman suffered fatal injuries in the aftermath of a two-vehicle crash outside of Santa Rosa on Wednesday, June 23.
The deadly crash reportedly occurred on Interstate 40 near milepost 306 at around 1:29 a.m. that morning. Local sources indicated that a 34-year-old man from Pearland, Texas was traveling westbound on the highway. The vehicle proceeded to leave the roadway, where it collided with a 2017 Kenworth Commercial Motor Vehicle that was parked on the shoulder
The driver was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, 58-year-old Ruth Maxwell of Pearland, was killed in the accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officials. The two occupants of the CMV were uninjured in the crash.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly accident is underway.
