Fatal Trucking Crashes in Albuquerque
A collision with a semi-truck is almost always more dangerous than a routine collision. Thousands of people are killed every year in trucking accidents. In the event of a crash, occupants of smaller vehicles are at greater risk of suffering life-threatening injuries, and this is backed up by national accident statistics. In 2018, 4,119 individuals were killed in 18-wheeler collisions, with passengers accounting for nearly 67% of those deceased. About every 15 seconds, someone is killed or seriously injured in a crash involving a tractor-trailer or semi-truck. In New Mexico, one out of every 35 semi-truck accidents is likely to result in death. An estimated 25% of fatal 18-wheeler accidents involve truckers who have been cited for a previous speeding conviction leading up to the incident.
When a loved one dies as a result of someone else's wrongdoing, it's fair that surviving family members want justice, yet wrongful death claims are among the most challenging cases to prosecute. A New Mexico wrongful death lawsuit could help families collect the money they need to pay for funeral and burial costs, medical bills, emotional anguish, and other expenses related to a deadly accident. Because wrongful death claims in Albuquerque are complicated, with strict statutes of limitations and restrictions on who can file, having an experienced legal team on your side will be beneficial.
