Quay County, NM - Traffic Accident with Injuries on I-40 near Tucumcari Municipal Airport

Quay County, NM (February 5, 2023) - A car crash reported Tuesday morning blocked the eastbound lanes of I-40 in Quay County. The accident happened near the Tucumcari Municipal Airport at approximately 9:30 a.m. 

Sources say responders were seen rendering aid in the eastbound lanes of I-40 east of New Mexico State Road 278/88, between the airport and Quay Rural Fire Department. At least one person suffered injuries in the accident. 

Emergency medical services rendered aid at the scene along with police and other responders. Currently, the extent of the injuries suffered in the accident has not been reported. 

Police in Quay County continue to investigate the details of the incident.
