Artesia, NM (August 24, 2022) - A 15-year-old passenger was killed following a crash involving a semi-truck outside of Artesia on Monday, August 22. The fatal crash took place on US-285 at around 6 p.m.
Local reports revealed that the 19-year-old driver of a Dodge SUV was headed southbound. The driver made a turn onto W. Atoka Road and was hit by an oncoming semi-truck. The passenger side of the SUV was hit directly.
The 15-year-old male passenger of the Dodge was killed in the accident. The driver was also hurt and transported to a local hospital.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is in progress.
