San Felipe Pueblo, NM - Derrick Tenorio, Young Girl Die in Train Accident on NM-313

San Felipe Pueblo, NM (July 25, 2022) - Two people were killed after a train hit a passenger car outside of San Felipe Pueblo on Sunday, July 24. 

The deadly accident took place on NM-313 near milepost 15 at around 11:15 a.m. that morning. Local reports revealed that a vehicle was headed eastbound in a 2014 Jeep Cherokee when he attempted to cross a private railway. A train crashed into the vehicle. 

The driver and his six-year-old daughter were killed in the collision. The driver was later identified as 30-year-old Derrick Tenorio of Santo Domingo Pueblo. None of the passengers on board the train were injured. 

An investigation into the fatal crash is in the hands of local law enforcement.
