Algodones, NM (July 16, 2022) – A major motor vehicle accident reported just outside of Algodones sent one person to a local hospital in critical condition. Around 910 a.m., on July 15, the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a crash that was blocking both north and southbound sides of Interstate 25.
Preliminary reports surrounding the accident show that a vehicle was traveling on the southbound side of Interstate 25 when it experienced a mechanical issue. As a result, the vehicle began to swerve out of control and cross onto the northbound side of the traffic. The vehicle struck six other vehicles after crossing over to the opposite side of the road.
One person involved in the accident suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where they were admitted in critical condition. Multiple other victims were provided medical care at the scene by responding emergency medical personnel.
The Sheriff’s office is currently conducting an investigation into the accident.
