Albuquerque, NM (January 24, 2022) - Two people were injured in a crash involving an alleged drunk driver in Albuquerque on Saturday night, January 22. The accident took place at the intersection of Lomas and Wyoming Boulevards.
Local reports revealed that 42-year-old Nicole Vargas was traveling at the intersection when she t-boned another vehicle. Vargas was reportedly speeding and running red lights leading up to the crash. An infant in the other vehicle was thrown from her seat and taken to a local hospital for the treatment of severe head trauma.
The other driver was also injured and hospitalized for treatment. A passenger in Vargas' vehicle was also injured. Initial reports indicated that the at-fault driver was on her way to buy alcohol at the time of the crash. Vargas is currently facing charges relating to driving while intoxicated and bodily harm by vehicle.
