Santa Fe, NM - Two Killed in Collision at NM-599 & I-25

Sante Fe, NM (September 7, 2021) - On Sunday, September 5, two people lost their lives in the aftermath of a car crash in Sante Fe. 

According to local reports, the deadly collision took place at the intersection of NM-599 and Interstate 25. A 39-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were traveling in a 2020 Hyundai at the time of the incident. A 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 52-year-old Andres Lira-Hernandez reportedly crashed into the side of the Hyundai. 

Lira-Hernandez reportedly failed to stop at the crossroads. Both the occupants of the Hyundai sustained fatal injuries in the crash and later succumbed to their injuries. Their identities have not been released at this time. 

Lira-Hernandez was not injured in the impact. He reportedly had warrants for his arrest and was taken to Sante Fe County jail. No further information has been released as of this time.
