Albuquerque, NM - UPDATE: Janell Katesigwa Killed in DUI Crash at Tower Rd & Unser Blvd

Albuquerque, NM (May 27, 2021) - An Albuquerque woman was killed by a drunk driver following a crash on Sunday, May 23. 

The site of the fatal accident was located at the intersection of Tower Road and Unser Boulevard. A drunk driver reportedly ran a red light at the intersection, crashing into the vehicle that 41-year-old Janell Katesigwa was traveling in. Katesigwa suffered fatal injuries in the impact. 

The Albuquerque Police Department reported that the at-fault driver was intoxicated. They were transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital for treatment, along with another passenger in their vehicle. Charges are currently pending. 

Local authorities are currently investigating the fatal crash.
