Bloomfield, NM - Clarice Tsosie Fatally Struck by Jeep on US-550

Bloomfield, NM (April 29, 2021) - An Albuquerque woman was killed following a pedestrian accident in the Bloomfield area on Thursday, April 22. 

The deadly crash occurred late that night at around 9 p.m. on US-550. According to local sources, 32-year-old Clarice Tsosie of Albuquerque was walking along the north and southbound lanes of the highway near milepost 134. At that time, she was hit by a southbound 2019 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 23-year-old woman from Odessa, Texas. 

The driver reportedly swerved and braked in order to avoid the impact but ultimately struck Tsosie. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by responding paramedics. Local reports indicated that alcohol is not believed to have been involved in the crash. 

An ongoing investigation into the deadly accident is being managed by the New Mexico State Police.
