Albuquerque, NM (April 2, 2021) - Two women are facing charges following a deadly car accident in Albuquerque on Tuesday, March 30, that resulted in the deaths of two children.
The fatal crash occurred early that morning at around 3 a.m. Local authorities were called to the scene on Interstate 25. According to local sources, 23-year-old Alexis Martinez was behind the wheel when the vehicle became airborne and crashed into a cement wall while exiting from Interstate 40.
Two children inside the vehicle were killed in the accident. Two other children who were riding in the car were hospitalized. Martinez and another injured child were listed to be in critical condition.
Martinez and another occupant, 23-year-old Danielle Ortiz, are currently facing charges for abuse of a child resulting in death or injury. Both were allegedly drunk at the time of the crash.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly collision is in progress.
