Lea Co, NM (January 28, 2021) - A two-vehicle collision involving a commercial truck in Lea County left one Tennessee man dead on Wednesday morning, January 27.
The deadly trucking accident reportedly took place near Hobbs at around 5 a.m. According to local reports, a 2005 Kenworth tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on NM-18 when it slowed down to make a left turn. For unknown reasons, a 2000 Ford sport-utility vehicle following the Kenworth struck the vehicle and overturned.
The driver of the Ford, 63-year-old Gary L. Marshall of Mulberry, Tennessee, was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The cause of the deadly accident has not been revealed at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is currently underway.
